Bifurcated right down its vinyl spine, the album spends its first side escalating tension through three volatile pieces. "Unconditional Artificial Chemistry" strikes immediate friction between bleak piano chords and heavy, downward-driving rhythm riffs, setting up the wandering, psych-tinged detours of "The Messiah Complex". The first half crests with "Broken Souls, Common Enemies", which pivots sharply from fragile acoustic strumming and wooden flute lines into serrated distorted chugging and guttural roars.
Then the sequencing executes a radical left turn. The rock ensemble steps back entirely to surrender the reverse side to "A Dark Poem - Orchestral Suite", a seventeen-minute classical canvas commanded by the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Opera Choir. Brass swells, weeping cellos, and massed choral voices systematically dissect and transform the trilogy's recurring melodic fragments, gradually draining the tempo until the final acoustic vibrations fade into an icy silence.
