While its turn-of-the-millennium packaging hinted at electronic reinvention, the music inside relies on organic earthiness, pinning modal woodwinds, mandolins, and hand percussion directly against blunt hard-rock riffing.
The revised mix cleans up these dynamics, giving individual acoustic timbres room to breathe alongside the heavier crunch. On "Spiral" and "Hunt By Numbers," Martin Barre's biting guitar leads drive the momentum forward with crisp rhythmic bite, while the title track folds breathless flute flutter around sinuous guest vocals. The sequencing shifts between intricate folk-prog detours and straightforward rock, capturing a veteran group leaning into unvarnished ensemble chemistry.
