Review
This debut keeps two appetites in one room: the wish to flatten a listener and the wish to be sung back at. Heavy riffs sit underneath four-part vocal stacks, and the bass often leads, pulling the tempo forward while the harmonies hover above it. Few songs take turns between the two. A bright hook can tip into a grinding passage mid-verse, and a plain rock structure can lurch off course without losing its footing.
Sequencing sharpens the argument. The opening stretch runs quick and glossy, the middle tilts toward a rawer, half-spoken snarl, and the record keeps shifting its weight instead of settling. The closer, "as you were," gathers harmony, weight and detour into one long push and declines to resolve what came before. There is no tidy consolation on offer, and that refusal keeps the brightest choruses from sounding naive.
The band treats heaviness as a counterweight to joy rather than a costume for it. The result asks to be played loud, then a few tracks later asks to be shouted along to, and it manages both without strain.
